Wastegate Rattle Question......

Comrades,

I recently installed BMS meow-less downpipes and I love 'em. At this point I am fully meow-less and running the stock mufflers (with golf tee mod).

Since install, I have noticed a rattle/metallic sound at a certain rpm and throttle pressure only. It happens around 1800 rpm and continues till 2300 rpm but only while under very slight boost.

When I'm super easy on the throttle, no sound. When I'm on the floor, nada. My exhaust guy and I have been over the car top to bottom trying to find the culprit...no luck. I know they are not touching and causing a rattle. Sound "sounds like" it is coming from behind the car....not underneath it....almost as if the sound is coming "out of the pipe" versus "from the pipe".

Thus, my questions:

Is this wastegate rattle or something in the stock muffler(s)?

Anyone else experience this or help me identify?

What can I do to cure it?

Thanks in advance,

JDJ

Did yours make the sound while driving (as I described)?

Thanks,

JDJ

Is there a way to get it to shut-up (without putting the cats back on) or do I need to find a way to live with it?

Cheers,

JDJ

i def noticed it more the day after i put DPs on.
now that youve heard it you will still notice it even if you put them on.
the warranty on them just got pushed to alot higher milage.
if you cant find a dealer who will look the other way on mods, then just wait for the weather to get real bad and get them removed and take it in, its covered.

Doesn't matter if you have a warranty and you can get the turbos replaced, it will still do it. I had mine replaced about 23k and it was doing it about a month later. Only thing that has really fixed it putting a procede on the car and fine tuning the wastegate position.

I own a 135i and last weekend just installed my AR Catless DP + Maddad full catback with resonators. I have exactly same noise that everybody experiencing here. Its really annoying when driving on highway here is Canada because its 100km and it land perfectly on the 1800 to 2000rpm range. I have an auto so that make things even worst. Right now I am running Cobb OTS stage 2 + FMIC and hopefully things will get better when I get a custom tune
