Disabling OBD

Im sorry, I know this has been covered before but im a bit confused by it all.

I want to get something done as I heard yesterday some poor f**ker on the next road from me got their BMW nicked. Also, there have been a lot of car thefts and break ins around my area reported anyway. I dont have a drive so my 335 is parked on the street. Its a worry.

Now, as I understand it, the port can be moved or it can be disabled in some way. If disabled (by a professional company), how do they do that? I read somewhere that pins can be taken out but dont really like the idea of that.

Can someone help me out please?

Have you contacted BMW to put your name down to have the problem fixed?

BMW set an 8 week deadline to deal with the issue. No idea if, how or indeed when the fix will come but it is worth putting your name on the list in hope that it is done.

However, I think i'd rather get it done before 8 weeks. if it got nicked during the wait, I would be seriously kicking myself!

Second that register and then get extention lead off ebay and relocate the port to a new location

If you want something more than just moving the port several companies will offer immobilisation of the port for sub £100. BW chiptune in Hayes do (HI KERR!) for example.

But I would probably move the port myself and then wait for the BMW fix..

How do these companies immobilise the port? I mean, what happens when its needed for fault codes / diagnostics etc?

They don't completely disable the port... they just disable when the car is locked and immoboliser is active.

By default BMWs have their OBD active even whilst locked/immoboilser is engaged - stupid I know.
