Bluetooth audio with Galaxy S2 question
I've tried as hard as I can to search for a solution to this issue but to no avail, so I apologize if I'm littering with a previously asked question thread.
I've wanted my music in my car since I acquired it but had switched from an iphone to my galaxy S2 before that. I've tried the numerous ways to make the iDrive recognize it or the data it contains via USB to no avail. Eventually I was able to get it paired via bluetooth, but even then all I've got is my phonebook. No music, data, messages, anything else. Is there something I'm missing or is it just not possible to make the droid system work with the iDrive? I'd like to do something more than just using the aux port. Again, sorry if this is a stupid question.

No idea why USB isn't working (maybe try other cables?), but I also don't know what functionality is available over USB for Android devices or what USB mode they need to be in for what function. However, you need a car produced 9/2010 or later for Bluetooth Audio and Messages, or a Combox retrofit for older cars.
Messages to my knowledge is only available for BlackBerries, and now iPhones if you're on iOS 6. For Bluetooth Audio, assuming your phone supports it, go to CD/Multimedia > Bluetooth audio and press the Options button. Check the Bluetooth Audio checkbox there to enable it system-wide, then you have to go into the Configure Phone options for your phone to enable it there too. You might have to unpair and re-pair to see that option.

I do have an 09 E92, have paired it multiple times and have never seen that option on there. I don't really care so much about messages as I do about having my whole library of music available. I know my phone supports bluetooth audio since I have some wireless headphones that are bluetooth enabled. Any thoughts?

9/2010 production cars are referred to as MY2011.5. Your car is too old for Bluetooth Audio unless you get a Combox retrofit.

Sorry thought you meant an 09 or newer car would have bluetooth audio/messages, I'll look in to the Combox.

I'm not in the Chicago area, which would be necessary if I wanted it installed. Are there any other solutions?

Ok now I am curious as well. I have an 09 e92 with idrive. I can pair my LG g2x without issue for the most part. Adds contacts and works for phone.
I also would love to have bluetooth audio and messaging(though i do not think messaging works form my phone either way) My real question here is I saw you mentioned you need a car with a mfr date of 10/2009+ to have BT audio and messages. But when i go into my idrive menu in telephone I definitely have the messages menu as well. Any thoughts here? Thanks in advance |
