How about a policy where a black box is fitted to monitor their driving. Sometimes this can reduce the cost.

Bingo creepy - you beat me to it.

I'd read these were massive savers for young drivers.

You can restrict them to daytime driving for example, or very low mileage, or pay as you go.

The ones i've seen monitor your speed, braking and cornering Gs etc so they know if you are 'smooth' driver.

You pay normal at first on a shorter premium that reduces if you drive well in the previous months.

Back again. Thanks for all the ideas suggestions and what have ye. Well that's all my avenues exhausted as I'm just off the phone with my insurers with a view to me selling the 320 and buying an £800 1.0L vw polo with me as the main driver and the other half and the son as additional drivers. The bargain price of £3800 was the best they could find so screw that. Have to say my arse tightened as she came back with the quote as if it had of been reasonable enough I would have actually contemplated selling the 320 and making do with the polo for a few years to get him started but its not to be. Disappointed for him I have to say but I can do no more. Once again thanks for your input chaps.

Jeez, that's disappointing.

I've 15 year old saving up for a car when he's 16.5. May have to review that...
