Has anyone had to clean their intake yet? I've had mine for about 5,000 miles but it's completely lost the blue color. It's mostly brown now. Burger says its good for 15k-20k miles though so is this just a cosmetic thing?

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can clean it and oil it with an off the shelf k&n kit.

If I'm not mistaken you rinse the cone with hot running water, let it dry under the sun, and slap it back on....I don't think your supposed to oil it. If I'm not mistaken BMS is a dry filter. AFE is the only company which makes a dry or oiled version.

The BMS is oiled and I think it actually uses an AFE filter. It definitely says to clean with a K&N kit on burgertuning.com though.

Buy the K&N cleaning kit at local auto store. Vacuum loose debris first.

ive had my car for over a year with 10k miles and had the full injen intake installed day two when i got the car. It still is in its original BLUE color. it all depends on what areas you drive in. usually i clean the filter when i get a oil change done. thats what i did with my e46 m3 for 6 years. but this one seems to not get dirty at all lol. "dont clean something that aint dirty"

Yes, the procedure is:
Wash it with solution they provide in the kit.
Rinse it with a hose.
Oil it with their oil (in kit)

Very easy to do and VERY reusable.
