well i just tried putting this accident into a quote for renewal that i had from esure, and as a no fault accident, the price didnt go up. So i wont expect my current provider to do so either, or i'll just move on.

I refuse to be penalised for someone elses bad driving

my insurance went up for an accident i have over 2 years ago that wasnt my fault! generally they ask have you been involved in a motoring incident "regardless of fault" which sucks big time! we pay for other peoples mistakes!!! grrrr

Mine went up a few hundred when someone decided to t-bone my old e90. There answer was "I am more of a risk to insure"

A non fault accident will put your premium up to some extent, crazy and unfair as it sounds.

Statistically if you have been involved in a bump you are more likely to be involved in an other one.

Makes no logical sense, but insurance is based on historic data and that data states the above.

well an insurance hike will be a lot cheaper than a new bumper and paint job for the E90. Lets hope they get the colour match spot on, and that all my parking sensors work 100%

Do you have somone else to claim off of? If a recovery is made from another party it shouldn't affect your premium. Mine was unaffected when the same happened to me.

Exact same thing happened to me and my premium went up even though it was a non fault claim.

well like i say, in the online quote i have from esure, declaring this incident as non fault, did not result in a change to the quote. So if tesco act up and want more cash, i'll just switch.

I think this s down to your insurer and the luck of the draw. I also had similar and all declared adn processed normally but no increase in premium.

Not quite true, it took so long to sort I had to pay a premium with 0 no claims and the fault as mine (apparently it was my fault for being driven into from behind crawling along in a motorway queue) but when it was sorted they refunded the entire difference. I was out of pocket for a while but that was understandable from the insurance company side.

I believe you should be able to claim any uninsured losses (i.e. increase in insurance premiums for the next five years, loss of resale value for accident damage, time spent dealing with claim etc) from the third party that caused the accident. My understanding is that you are entitled to claim for any costs incurred by the accident, such that you are put back in the position you would be in had the accident not happened

Something like that happened to me a few months ago. To my surprise, I reached bellow the bumper with my hand and pushed the damaged area out, and it popped right out! Very little paint damage (like a little "wrinkle"), not visible if you don't look very close. But it saved me a few days in the shop and all the insurance related nightmare. It is not perfect, but I'll leave the bumper job for later, if anything bigger happens.

mine has popped out a bit, but still looks pretty shocking.

I would have been inclined to just fix it myself and get a sport bumper sprayed up, but the costs involved just dont make sense when my insurance will fix it for free.

well... almost 1 month on, a lot of phonecalls and 1 courtesy car later.. this is what i picked up today:



they didnt repair the bumper and instead installed a brand new genuine BMW bumper cover, new brackets and seem to have done a good job on the colour match.

treating the car to a full paint correction detail next week. Pictures to follow

you know.. i was tempted to try, but as it wasnt a company i'm familiar with i didnt want to risk it.

i think the M sport rear bumper is one of the best visual changes you can make to an SE. The front bumper IMHO really isnt different enough in the sport version, nor are the side skirts, but the rear bumper transforms the car.

Kinda happy about keeping the car as clean and OEM as possible though. For resale value.
