OP, I would just get a catless downpipe with the stock exhaust. This setup sounds great on the N55, and isn't overbearingly loud. It will give you the most performance, and you will hear the turbo spool much more. If you want a tad more sound, unplug the actuator in the trunk to open both mufflers at low RPM.

Yes, but he has to remember changing the downpipe to anything aftermarket, catted or not, will void the warranty. You are messing with emissions equipment, and the dealership could bring up backpressure/O2 issues/etc if you modify it. So I would say BMW PE with stock DP (Safe route with warranty, less performance, more sound), or C-Less downpipe stock exhaust (Quieter, more performance, warranty void).

I agree with you on catted DP's not being worth the money. They are more expensive than a C-Less downpipe, don't provide as much of a gain, and the restriction is still there, along with the other points regarding warranty etc. Not saying it dousn't provide any gains, it's just less of a gain for more money compared to the C-Less option. If I were in your position, I would just get the BMW PE considering you already have the PPK, and you wouldn't have to worry about any warranty issues down the road. |

I have an AR Design catted downpipe + BMW Performance exhaust for almost a year and I never had any warning lights or whatsoever. Even had a faulty valve been fixed under waranty with the catted downpipe still in place...
But... It is loud, sometimes too loud but I love it. |

Here, I will help you..
These are two videos I'll show you with catless downpipe, BMS JB, and aftermarket exhaust. As you can see, we get a lot of gurgle and pop First one is AR DP + BMW PE. Second one is what my car had: BMS DP + AE Exhaust. Neither of them are for video, just sound. As you can see.
