As above really, i'm getting a new wheel today due to a hairline crack and the dealer are making me pay for the runout test and the labour to fit the old tyre, is this normal? It works out as about one hours labour - I don't mind paying something but I wasn't sure what the 'norm' was.

Any of you guys paid similar?

Something? An hours labour at BMW rates could be well over £100, what is the age / mileage of your car?

Its about 4.5 years old and has just under 60k on the clock.

The one hours labour will be approx £100 plus VAT...

I'd pay for the run out test purely because the wheel was replaced as a goodwill gesture and not under warranty.

As for replacing the tyre,just pick up the wheel + tyre, and go to a good independent tyre place & £ pay 15.00 ish quid to get the two put together.

I would let the dealer fit the tyre because then if its damaged it is their fault. If your fitter damages the wheel you will have a bigger fight on your hands.

Also I wouldn't pay anything for the work, its an issue they are acknowledging whether by warranty or goodwill, ain't your fault the wheel failed and how long really does it take them to verify the wheel needed replaced?

A goodwill gesture is by no means an acknowledgement of anything,it's nothing more than what is stated.

BMW or indeed any manufacturer are not known for granting goodwill for nothing .......... also the fact that if the car was in warranty then that would have paid for the repair is a clear pointer that there is an issue they are accountable for. Guess its all down to how good a relationship you have with your dealer and how persuasive you can be with BMW HQ. I have had several "goodwill" repairs all totally FOC and for sure if you will give them £100 towards the new wheel they will take it as it considerably reduces BMW's contribution.

Get the wheel off Sytner then take it up to Gilders to fit it for buggering you about with the Audi
