Coca cola on paint

Hey all,

My family spilled coca-cola on my hood while I was on a foreign trip. Off course the car has not been washed while the obsessive compulsive was not there (that would be me, if you follow). Now, the coke stain has settled in the paint. I tried to wash it today, its a mess.

I tried rubbing with the wash mitt and mother cleaner, that did nothing.
I tried rubbing with the wash mitt and pure turtle green, that removed most of the sticky substance, but not all.

The hood still has marks of the stain, and some sticky deposit is still present. I have rubbed vigorously, I think rubbing harder may increase damage.

Is there a chemical that can help here? Polishing required? Is the paint ruined definitively?

I'll try to do this tonight, but on daylight it looked even grimmer. The paint looks like it bubbled or cracked, like an old oil painting in a museum. Looks desperate.

If the paint is bubbled/cracked it cannot be corrected. Sorry to be the one to break the bad news.

+100

If you are curious just how corrosive Coca Cola is pour a glass and drop a rusty bolt in it. Come back in a few days and check it out.

i believe once coke settles on the paint it will etch into the paint and only professional body work will eliminate

From what I understand there is so much citric and other acids in Coca-Cola, it probably needs a repaint by now. I hope I'm wrong but I'd take it to a pro, on your family's dime.

I once had someone put a soda cup on my roof, not the sunroof. It was very hard to keep my composure as I told him never to do it again and explain why.
