+1

In contrast to many other people, I really like the whole iDrive package. I love the customization options and the fact that the dash looks nice and clean with just a few buttons. After using it for a coouple of months, I feel very comfortable with it, and can do virtually everything I want to do on a daily basis (radio, CDs, cell phone/bluetooth, etc.) without even looking at the screen.

I also really find the PDC display to be very useful- just two days ago I started to back up and a basketball, which was nowhere near my car when I got in, had rolled behind the car (still not quite sure how that happened). I would have backed over it, but I could see the PDC screen showing a moving object behind me, which made me get out and look, and sure enough, there it was.

Get it, it's worth it. It one of those things that after you get it you wondered how you lived without it.

Having NAV built in and integrated into Idrive is a very nice feature. I have BMW Assist with the convenience plan. You can hit the SOS button and have the concierge find your destination and download it to the nav system. Definitely beats fiddling with the IDrive while you are trying to drive. Had a Garmin in my previous car. The Garmin was a much better NAV system with a much more intuitive interface. I ordered IDrive in spite of the fact that every review I read about it panned it. IMHO it leaves a lot to be desired, I would descrive the interface as "User Antogonistic". Still I would rather have it then not have it. As it evolves it is starting to approach mediocroty.

i did not get this option. if i had the extra money burning a hole in my pocket i would have gotten it, because it is really cool and less clutter. however i couldnt bring myself to spend the extra money because i already have a garmin nuvi. if you can do it, more power to you
