Car wont start sometimes. HELP!
So this pass week my car some times wont start, i put the key in and try to start it and it just clicks and doesn't even turn over. I put a volt meter to my batt and its floating at the normal 12 volts. Anyone have this same problem or fix? The car is a 2006 325XI
Thanks, Kasey |

That's seems kinda odd though, cause some days it works perfect and some days it doesn't, don't you think if it was my batt it wouldn't start more often then it would start. Cause the last time it happened I drove 90 miles shut my car off for about 10 minuets and it didn't start. Got it to start then drove about 5 miles shut it down for the night and it has been working fine since then. Maybe it could still be my batt. I guess I will take it in and see what they can find.

Could be the alternator also. A good batt should hover between 12.5 and 13.5 volts, 12 is on the low side. When the alternator is going bad, charging will be intermittent. Sometimes it will charge the battery and other times the car will start shutting itself off while you're driving. Trust me I know.

If your battery hasn't been changed since 2006, that could be the culprit. While IBS is a possibility, it could be the starter itself, which is known to go bad and is a pain in the neck to replace since it is buried down deep.
