Navigation voice over music?
Anyone know where to set the option so that when you have the navigation on, it plays over the music instead of cutting it out completely? I have my system updated to the latest v26 progman, and I read on another thread that this was a new feature. And I've actually heard it working once, and thought it was pretty cool. But the next time I used the navi, it stopped working. The only thing different was that I used my spare key when it was working, and it's not on my other key... so it has to be a setting somewhere, but I can't locate it for the life of me.
And for clarification, when I say that the navi voice plays over the music... I mean that the music just gets turned down a bit, and the voice speaks, then the music will go back to normal volume. Anyone know more info for this??

Sounds like the volume for the navigation is set too low. Reset the volume on the navigation instructions. Turn the volume knob on the center console as "the voice" is speaking.

I think it is only for the cars built in 2007 and forth. I have 2005 built E90 and it doesn't have that. I could clearly hear music while the nav was talking on a 2007 328i loaner. I tried the option that enables it on my car, but couldn't find any.

There is no setting for that. Mine does it that way (fades the music only). As SoYank suggested, perhaps the nav volume is set too low. Try that.

I could try that tonight... but it's not the navigation voice that's the issue. I want the music to be louder, or not cut out at all. I could hear the navigation voice just fine....
Drfluid, could you enlighten me on what the "option" is that you tried to enable it?

If you bring up the map in the left 2/3 screen, along the left margin is a vertical display of icons. Select the topmost one and click down on the knob. Or, push the voice command button and say, "Navigation info off".
Either of these will turn off the navigation directions. If the music is too soft, turn up the volume either with the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel or on the volume control in the center console.

Not wanting to sound like an ass.... but I understood how to do that part, thanks for the suggestion though I want to get it so that I could hear the navigation voice on top of the music.... Right now, it's more just frustrating me than anything else, since I know it has to be set somewhere.

I feel your frustration. My brothers Acura RL mutes music out the front speakers only when the navigation voice comes on so you can steal hear tunes out of the rear speakers. Even that was a little annoying.
I'd like to see the music volume just go down a little bit rather than completely mute.

What I meant to say was; I tried "to find" an option to do that, but I couldn't find any. Sorry, I turned the nav volume up really loud, but the music still cut out completely. Maybe it's a hardware issue????
