How long do the OEM turbos on a 335i generally last?

I'd like to sell my 2008 335i before I encounter the expense of replacing the turbos. I know I plan to sell it before it hits the 7 year old mark (for lending purposes of potential buyers). Car has 50,000 miles right now. I did search but couldn't find an easy answer. Could someone just give a general range of when the N54 factory turbos start to go with "average" driving? I have a Procede but don't get the chance to hammer it much. Thanks.

It depends on how hard you push them. I didn't have issues with mine until I was running them at 20 psi tapering to 16 by redline. If you run them conservatively with more taper towards redline, they should last much longer. I think you will probably be good to well over 100,000 miles unless you go FBO+Meth and crank up the boost. Plus if you have waste gate rattle, the turbos will be covered under the 8 yr/82000 miles (I think those numbers are right) extended warranty and you can get them replaced for free.

I'm Modified (now pushing 18lbs of boost), and I have over 100,000 miles on first run original factory turbos built in 2006, with NO issues whatsoever. Use high quality oils, and change your oil frequently, and you should have no problems.

Depends on how hard the care is driven , tune, frequently change oil, whether or not the owner does some sore of cool down, etc.

Interested to know what high quality oils you're referring to.

I ran JB3 2.0 for 98,000 miles on my 2007 E90 335i and in a 2 year period I only had my wastegate actuators replaced, never my turbos. I'm assuming you'll be good for another 20,000 or so but I am curious as to exactly how much longer they will last...
