JB4 slef install
Just bought jb4 pnp. Install doesn't look too bad/hard. If I'm not a total putz, should I DIY? It seems like if I'm careful and closely follow the (detailed) instructions, I should be fine.
What would a tuning shop charge for install - 1 hour labor?

Took me and a buddy 2 hrs my first time back in 2010 but now it takes me 20 minutes including the DCI's. Take your time and double check everything. One more tip is after you think you installed the JB4 correctly, re-connect your battery and see if your car starts. If it does thats good, then hold down on both the steering wheel volume and channel buttons to make sure the JB4 is active. If all checks out then put back together your car. I still do this after 3 years of installing my Juice Box just to make sure it's installed correctly. Follow this N54tech thread for details on the steering wheel controls, etc.

I agree with the others. Fairly straight forward. The instructions are good. Just take your time, and don't force anything. Everything comes apart and goes together easily if you have all the screws out, and everything lined up correctly. Snapping the clips on the ECU can be a little hard if you have big hands.
Pay particular attention to the orientation of the connectors inside the ECU. They are not marked well, and can be inserted backwards. A touch of magic marker, or a "before" photo could save you some time.

Is it recommended to unhook the battery before installing piggys? If so, just unplug one of the terminals in the trunk?
I didnt do that when i installed my Rev2.5...

OP, honestly, the indy shop would most likely take just as long as you would, and would most likely make more mistakes because: a) They most likely have never installed a JB4 B) Will have to use the same videos/threads you have been reading C) Dont care as much as you because its not their car so they will be less careful, although they will probably pay for whatever they screw up. Save the $ and do it yourself. Honestly...
