Failed MOT - Emissions Lambda
My E92 320i failed its MOT on emissions lambda reading. The sheet shows lambda upper limit reading as 1.03, my actual was 2.20.
Now after doing a bit of research, I come across: http://www.bmwland.co.uk/forums/view...p?f=4&t=133386 and http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...ssions-t74667/ Can anyone here confirm if the lambda upper limit should be 4.0 on the N43 petrol engines? |

Yep,
similar thread here a few days ago. MOT man using the wrong engine type. Regular 'normal' petrols run lambda 0.98 to 1.03 ish. Yours is a lean burn engine as the forums describe, go back to the garage and tell them. |

Can tell you for an N53 30i, min is 0.700; max is 4.000, so can't think the N43 is much different if at all.
Common MoT tester mistake not selecting the lean burn engine on the Sun tester! |
