Tallest sidewall???????

Whats the largest size tire----with a regular profile sidewall-----that will fit on 19" rims 8.5 front 9.5 rear. The reason I'm asking is I have an xi and I do not want to lower it and the 235/35's are just not enough sidewall for me. I went with 235's on the rear because I was told they would work well on the 9.5's in the rear and they absolutely do not fill the wheel well enough. I would like a tire with more sidewall to fill the well a little better. Please help.

If you have much more sidewall, which would be necessary with what you are trying the accomplish, you will change the overall diameter of the tires thus rendering your speedo inaccurate (not that it really is anyway) and slowing
down acceleration by changing the overall drive ratio.

I'd recommend a slight drop even though you don't want to. It will be cheaper than buying new tires.

Also, what offset rim are you running? If the offset is high, the rims will really look like they are tucked under the car.

30 in the rear. They do not looked tucked in. Could I go with 275/30's in the rear? That would have atleast a sidewall to match the fronts, correct? Its the rears I am having the problem with. I was recommended to 235's on a 9.5 inch rim so I would not have to buy spacers and longer bolts because the 8.5's only came in 38mm offset. By the way if anybody is recommended that combo DO NOT DO IT. It looks rediculous. Like you are riding right on the rim.

By using the tire calculator at the top of the page, 235/35/19s give an overall diameter of 25.48", and 275/30/19s are 25.5", which is essentially the same. This is just a function of 19" rims combined with the higher ride height of the xi.

So why do none of the pictures I have seen on this site look like that? None of them look like they are riding right on the rim.

I really don't know why. Do your tires have air in them??

Post some pics, maybe someone else will have ideas.

Here is a link to the thread with pics..I guess I was having a bad day yesterday. I don't think it looks bad at all. I will be changing the 235's out for 265's or 275's (if they will work) as soon as I can.

Staggered if fine, but if you are adding the wider rubber out back to alleviate the fender gap issue, you are wasting your money. Again the overall diameter btw the 235/35 and 265 or 275/30 is essentially the same. Gotta be the drop.

No I'm planning on the wider rubber because I don't like the stretched look of the 235's on the 9.5 inch rim. I'm not gonna change them out yet though. got other mods in mind first that I need to spend money on.. Thanks for your help Jaws.
