CCC screen to CIC screen

i have a 2008 m3 i was wondering if i could just install the CIC screen and if so would this give me more of a clear display with the old CCC. I was told the screen are different in regrades to resolution is this true also?

There is a difference in screen resolution; however I think the connector is slightly different, and I believe the imaging on the CIC is of higher resolution as well.. sort of like showing a crappy picture on an HDTV.. still looks crappy.

Well for one, the connector for the CIC screen is simply not there in the CCC unit. I am not sure how that would work. There are adapters for everything these days however the connection cable is very different from CIC to CCC. Doubt it would work.

You need the whole cic system screen head unit and mew cable between them and the new head unit needs an emulator harness to allow it to work in the car.

Figure on spending in the 2k range to make it all work.

CIC screens use 2-wire LVDS signal, which is not compatible with the old CCC units.
Unless you change the HU, it will no work with the old CCC.
(I am not sure, but High resolution screens were used in post 03/2008 E6x with CCC units.)

No, unfortunately a new screen will not work with a CCC navigation system. If you ever decide to do a CIC retrofit, please do not hesitate to contact us for an estimate

CIC upgrade

I believe I have seen the retrofit for somewhere just north of $2k. I'd really like the new system but that's a lot of cash you're not going to recover. Wonder if it will then run BMW apps? I am considering the controller change, just requires new controller and new console cover.

When ypu upgrade to the CIC system, you can definitely add things to it later to have BMW apps, bluetooth audio, album art, etc., but these are options that do not come with the CIC automatically.

Thanks,

Kate.
