So, i've tried "Euro Effects" Blue bulbs (supposed to be 7500K) but they turned out white instead and i'm pretty sure because the blue film burned off (like the last pair of Luminics 5500k (titanium white) H7's i had did (and they were supposed to be pure white but instead went yellow)...

am i just not meant to have blue tinted bulbs? wtf...

**Please don't spam up this thread saying all the "that's ricer" crap or whatever, i just want to know if there's any members who successfully installed bulbs (non high beam) and they continue to be blue.

what brand did you get? and if possible, can you send me a link?

i figured as much people would be one-sided about this...

I don't want to blind oncoming traffic with HIDs though, i don't want to install projectors in my LCI halogens... think it would be okay?

I have yellow 2500k High Beams so that's for use when i actually NEED light to see... rather i have blue/pink/white/green or whatever else color doesn't matter to me... i thought about just getting RGB LEDs for Low Beam and just turn the switch for whatever color i want... thoughts?

LED as low beam? I think you're trying to reinvent the wheel mate.

They won't put out the right amount of lumens that you need, so you're compromising safety for looks. That and by using your highbeams when you do need light defeats the reason you aren't getting HIDs - you'll blind people even worse.

they have H7 LED bulbs, they're pretty common... i seen a set of 120 LED that put out 500 lumens for a pretty penny.

Exactly my point about the HIDs, i don't want to put them in my low beam because, yes, that would defeat the purpose of high beams all together. I thought about blacking out the housing and put in an HID kit to cut back on light reflection but i'm not so sure i want to take the face off my headlight [again].

About those H7 LEDs...common, yes. Quality, no. They have no heat management at all, use inappropriate current control systems, and don't direct light where it needs to go.

The LEDs will have a comparable problem to putting HID's in halogen reflectors. Essentially, the brightest point of the bulb won't be hitting the focal point of the reflector, and will proceed to blergh light everywhere. The LED may "look" bright if an outsider is looking at it, but you won't see much usable light on the road.

On to the heat management problem--take a look at these LED bulbs

The heat sink here was designed purposefully to move heat away from the emitters and the driver. Those cheapie H7 bulbs have no such thing at all. So they will burn out very quickly if they're used in a scenario like this. And I highly doubt they put out 500 lumens--to me that sounds like a theoretical number, like "if all of these LEDs were operating at peak-efficiency, you would see 500 lumens".

So yes, I would stray away from HIDs, but I would stray away from LEDs too.

But I think you should open up your headlights again, put in REALLY good low-beam HID projectors (RX330, TSX, (not bixenon, you have halogen high-beams that you seem pretty set on) if you want a whiter, brighter light.

You seem like a rather discerning owner who won't settle for crap in your car. And I'm telling you that you will never be fully satisfied with some color-coated halogen bulbs--there's just no way. They reduce light output, and the color is never going to be where you want it--just a limitation of the technology. If you really want to avoid opening your Perma-Seal headlights again, Snag a set of the DEPOs, and retrofit those.

If i got the HID route, i planned on fitting P7 Q45 projectors into my low beam housing and then a bright white HID kit to back it up... otherwise, i was just looking for a temporary cheap *BLUE* solution to hold me over until the bigger project...

If I make make one suggestion, I would like to recommend a different projector. I certainly can't deny that the Q45 projectors are visually quite stunning. They are literally "one-of-a-kind." However, Infiniti sacrificed a lot of performance for the appearance. And they're extremely rare, so of course, the price is high (currently $350 through TRS). For that kind of money, I would get the LS460, and enquire if they can provide the solenoid retrofit to make it easier to install. Around the same amount of money, and you get a cool shroud that you can put a LED ring in for a really unique look

And for the kit, go with the Morimoto Three5 or the Deno OEM ballast, and the Osram CBI D2S bulb. LS460 bixenon+CBI=better than any Factory BMW HID setup ever, and better than 99% of what's on the road right now.

Bro I use those in my highs, I use vision x h7, sold by my local custom shop Van Cours in Puyallup. $40 and they come with a year warranty for whatever happens they replace no questions. Hope this helps unlike most other responds I see.

I had these also in my 2009 ML, they still are running fine in my highs on that as well. Not sure about long term but the blue films been on there for 3 years.

that's pretty creative looking... though, i can get P7 Q45's for $200. The ballast and bulbs are a pretty penny though... $185 for the bulbs and $165 for the ballast(s)? WOW...
