CPO paperwork - how long does it take to come from BMWNA?

In a nutshell, purchased car 3 weeks ago that had originally been for sale as a CPO, but the dealership was advertising it as a non-CPO for a lower price. I paid the CPO premium to get the warranty, and they said paperwork should come within 90 days. Could it actually take that long? My prev BMW was listed as a CPO and I believe I received the paperwork/card at the time of sale.

I purchased out of state, but asked my local dealership and they said the CPO warranty was "Pending" in the system. I'm guessing everything is fine, things just take time, but it's also unsettling to not have any official BMW paperwork proving it is CPO.

Don't know exactly what you're referring to, but it took me a few months to get a packet in the mail with CPO information and some sort of card.

Sounds like this is it. It was a while ago, but my previous car was a 335i, and I could swear I received the CPO documentation (or atleast the card that showed the VIN and original in-service date) on the day I purchased the vehicle.

Mine showed up about 3 months after I bought the car. Not a big deal for me as it was still under the full warranty. I would, continue to check the status though. I went 4 months without the BMW assist working because the salesman messed something up in their system when I bought the car.

I'm still under warranty (and have BMW Assist working correctly), so I'm not worried about something breaking in the meantime. It's just a little disconcerting to not have hard proof of the warranty after all the awful dealership stories you hear on the internet.

So, if it says "Pending" in BMW's system, I really shouldn't worry about it?

Just give it 90 days. BMWNA has always been on time sending me things that needed to get to me.

I wouldn't stress on it at this point. The dealer system says pending, so something's happening. The pile of paperwork you got when bought the car should have it listed somewhere as well. Enjoy the car and if you still haven't gotten the package or it doesn't show in the system at the 90 day point, give the salesman at the original dealer a call

I got a couple brochures and it was listed on a sales document when I bought it (but not terribly specific info), and then a couple months later got all the specific CPO info and such in the mail.

I purchased a 2009 335 CPO about a month ago and worried about the same issue. I have a little brochure and a "BMW CPO sticker" with the car's features and in service date plus CPO date. Kinda looks halfway official, but I don't trust my dealer. (They did try to put 3 new tires on the car and get away with it. Thankfully, that was fixed.). I also kept the Carfax and ads that say CPO.

I ended up calling BMW USA. They knew about my car and had all the warranty dates in their system as a CPO consistent with my semi-official looking paper. I feel better now. I asked if I should be receiving something in the mail...it sounded like I would NOT be?

I'm happy with my car, but did everyone else eventually get a CPO card?

I'm fairly certain you should be getting a CPO card. That's what you can give to the next owner if you sell it with any of the warranty remaining, and also has your VIN and the roadside assistance number. Unless BMW stopped providing such a card?

Update - about 4-5 months after I purchased the car, the CPO paperwork came in the mail. However, any BMW dealership should be able to confirm it is a CPO car without the paperwork by looking up the VIN in their system.

I got my paperwork when I bought my car.
How long it takes depends on if they CPO the car to sell it or they CPO the car during the sale and charge you the fee.

Right, the CPO was added on at signing - I bought my previous 335i as a CPO and got the paperwork when I took the keys, but the original question for the thread was how long I should expect to get the docs. 5 months seems like a long time - even the DMV gets you documents faster than that!
