I just bought a 328i and I had them install the 18 inch rims as part of the deal to purchase the car. I don't find the ride that bad. My other car is a VW Passat and yes my BMW is a little harsher ride but mind you I have the sports package, 18inch rims, low profile tries and RFTs. The harsher ride in my opinion is not as bad as some people claim. I still love the car and the ride and handling in my opinion is amazing! It blows away my Passat! Regarding no spare I do some long distance (about 400km from my house) driving but in 25 years of driving I've only had about 3 or 4 flats so I'm not going to sweat it about not caring a spare. :-)

To me, the benefits of having stickier, wider, non-RFTs (like the Mich. PS2s) over the oem stock RFTs outweigh the convenience and safety of the Bridgestone RFTs.
