N55 ISO Fbo + Meth Thread
This thread is intended for n55's who's config is JB4 Stage 2 AND FULLY bolt-on AND running Meth (and possibly some form or race gas like v101/104 or other Sunoco blend - NOT e85 with the harness)
I'm on the fence with ISO and I am not sure if anyone else in the above mentioned config has done the ISO... I'm not even sure if Terry had done it on one of his mules... which concerns me. Anyone done the ISO yet in FBO+ config yet?

I have done it and i love it. FBO + Meth. with regular 93 I ran a conservative +4 with a 60:40 meth mix. It felt better than any of my +7 e85 / race gas runs.
Highly recommend it. Terry ![]() |

Ok... I did the ISO firmware today along with the new 12/14 interface* and I have to ask...
am I supposed to "feel" anything different? Keep in mind that I'm balls beep in mods so I know where my car dialed in on the street before ISO. [To me], this feels no different, I'm not knocking it, because I haven't logged anything yet... so, the PURPOSE of THIS thread is ONLY for those of us who are crazy modded [FBO+] with the exception of a replacement turbo at this point. What am I supposed to feel with ISO? perhaps ISO a precursor platform to something else? NOTE for the new 12/14 interface: The new JB4_interface_121412.zip has changed text labels - be forewarned. ISO HERE | NEW 12/14 INTERFACE HERE Per Terry: "...Interface changes: Changed some of the user adjustable variable names to better reflect their current uses. Lagfix has been updated to default wastegate position. Bogfix has been updated to Future Use E as it's no longer used for ISO firmware. Added N55 135/335 ISO default setting option..." So... to make things a little more clear, in the new 12/14 interface, on the 'Settings' tab: Lagfix = 'Default Wastegate Position' PID Gain = 'PID Gain' PID Damper = 'Shift Boost Reduction'

For me it was very noticeable. I spool up faster. Boost targets are hit more precisely. Boost curve is much smoother and my timing looks sport on.
19.4psi is the highest I ever saw a log go pre ISO. With ISO i haven't pushed it over 18 since I am on snows now and it just gets a little hairy. I think you should go do a few logs. Start at map5 with no meth... then go +4 ad and work up... compare to your old ones. For me the best improvement is the way the turbo will initially respond when you go WOT. Hard, smooth, and accurate. |

The ISO is for isolated boost control. The update gives better boost control, a lot smoother and more accurate. But... Nothing more basically... You won't get more power, just a better response overall.

Another thing that was a big plus for me is the consistency in reaching the initial boost target. I was having issues with either a slow build up to target or a quick 3 psi dip after reaching it. This has not happened once with ISO

Rob, I did ISO a week and a half ago or so. There's not a huge improvement with us meth guys..it's honestly all response. But I do "feel" it. It might be placebo for all I know though lol. Just refilled my 2.2 gallon meth tank after 2 months..I love trunk meth kits! Thanks again for the insight again.

yea, all boost control to remove dips/spikes that's it. I honestly don't feel any difference, I drove a good 30 miles in traffic today and there's really nothing special - I guess I was really dialed in before this change. As for the meth trunk kit, yea, there is zero comparison with a WW kit. I always have 100% flow and it's incredibly reliable -- I LOVE it too -- happy to share that tidbit. ![]()

after a few days of dabbling with the settings, I have found that the Lagfix = 'Default Wastegate Position' setting of '80' is actually better set to '50'. The afterfires ceased and the tune finally feels right. I've also noticed that power delivery feels very smooth and even sometimes "unbridled"... 3rd gear breaks traction down low. Just wanted to check in... how are other FBO+'s doing?

Other than a lot of rain the past few days it's been great. I have had it set to 80 since the first log I sent to Terry and have never had the backfire issues that some were reporting. I have had my Meth turned completely off and have been on map 5 with a 40:60 e85 mix and have been loving it. If the weather is nice I'll try to do some meth logging this weekend.
Glad your stuff is working out for you |
