I was at the train station the other day and parked next to a nice or should I say "rice" 650i.
The person had installed some red caliper covers. If you own a car that costs "80 large", WTF??? No accounting for taste...... |

Dont use caliper covers. Please. This isnt a V6 Mustang or an old Corvette. Cmon. If you even think of tracking the car, the covers will melt, and you will be very mad. And broke.

Paint them or spend $$$
The Brembo covers are plastic (I think), the best ones are the GP caliper covers and you can have BMW etched and painted on them. Yes, Corvettes and Mustangs are the biggest clients I bought the GPs to see how they would look and blah! I returned them for a refund I painted mine with black high temp paint and it is not hard to do.

Guys, I thought long and hard about caliper covers! I cant stand the factory calipers and I'm not spending the 4k+ it takes for the big brake kits, they look cheap for a 50k car especially with the 19" 313's! I found a company that makes custom caliper covers. made of aircraft aluminum cut out on a cnc machine I'm having mine made with the Active Autowerke logo in white (hope they dont mind) and having carbon fiber hydrofilm put on. The mock-up looks pretty trick. I'll post some pictures when I put them on.

Funny someone brings this up, had an Audi driver recently ask me at a gas station where I got my caliper covers from ...
I guess they are pretty good looking, you know for fake calipers.

super static to the floor! Your car looks gorgeous
I guess some people don't know the difference in covers and real brakes when they see it

To be completely honest, I didn't lol I knew that bbks and performance systems alike don't use caliper covers. But I didn't know that the 135 and m3 calipers weren't covers

Like everyone else I say skip the BBK. A kid at my school has them on his WRX and i'm definitely not a fan... I just really don't like posing like you have a 8k bbk when really you don't... Heres a pic I snapped a little while ago

I definitely am skipping on them now. Like before when I said caliper covers, I meant like a flat piece of metal that makes it look less mechanical and I never meant for it as to fake any brand such as wilwood, brembo, etc. I wouldn't feel right to have fake covers on my calipers or claiming a brand that I don't have. I merely wanted something simple like how the 135i has or so that just says bmw on it

I'm definitely going in that direction for now until I can throw a real bbk on my car. I can't believe this thread has blown up as it has but thanks to everyone for not letting me look like a fool with caliper covers -.- lol
