320d High Coolant Temp
Just recently decided to check my coolant temp using the BC hidden menus.
It heated up in good time then just sat at 97deg~ for the rest of the journey. Searching through other threads I noticed that people are saying it should be at 90deg. I'm going to check again when I get time just to confirm it. Low temps seem to be a common complaint but I've not seen any threads about high temps, what are the possible causes? |

I'd say that was about spot on.

Likely just running on the high side of average. Bound to be some examples with components with the + side of tolerance.
BTW, is your car the later N47 engine? That has one thermostat and does tend to be more stable anyway. HighlandPete |

Thanks for the input.
I will check again tomorrow to verify. I think I heard somewhere that the DPF regen cycle has an effect on temperatures so it could be that. I was worried that it could indicate improper oil or an issue with the coolant. |

My N47 320d's temp is stable @ 88*C with AC on (front vent running).
Highest i've seen was 98*C, in summer time, car stopped, AC off; when temp hit 98*C front fan started running until temp decreased to 95*C, then it stopped and the whole cycle repeated. If i turned AC on or the car was moving, the temp went back to ~88*C
