Traction control without yellow triangle?

Raining as usual on the way home from work this evening. Went to overtake on a motorway slip lane but no shove in the back. Looked at the dash, no flashing yellow triangle Kept my foot buried, nothing for 2-3 seconds, then the yellow triangle appears, still no shove, 2 seconds later triangle disappears and 700Nm is back.

Question is can the power be cut without the yellow triangle flashing?

Absolutely, the traction / braking / ESP cuts in a lot without the yellow triangle.

The triangle only shows for continued major transgretions, ham fisted efforts etc.

I.e. if the triangle shows then you are continuing to overdo it, that's when you need the warning.

Minor or short duration excesses are reined in with no warning.

That's why, in more powerful models like 335s anyway, its better to drive with DTC on (short press), try it, its like a new car......

Thanks for the info. makes sense. As you say with lots of power and a slippery road it's so easy to loose traction.
Only issue with having the DTC on is cruise gets disabled, but if it reduces the occurance of power reduction i'll make it a part of my start up routine

The JB4 piggy back tune for the 335i has a DTC default-on setting on start up.

Needless to say I use that, and turn DTC off when i need cruise or get on a DC or Mway or have the family on board.

Traction control can relaly take the fun out of a 335 and probably intervienes a lot more than you think as the light doesn't allways come on. I too thought my car was broken and had a boost leak or something untill I hit the DTC button!
