High Mileage 330xi with P1415 code
Hello everyone, I have a 330xi with 120k that I just recently purchased. I have the following codes.
P0171 P0174 P0102 P1415 I know that both o2 sensors are ( p0171 & p0174 ) but I dont believe they both failed at the same time. I also have P0102 which is the mass air flow. The car is running extremely rich because my gas mileage is around 11mpg and my rear bumper is pretty much black. I dont understand what the main cause of all these codes to come up is. I am about to change the mass air flow $300 because it's my last hope. I do have a p1415 secondary air pump. I dont see a secondary air pump anywhere but I believe its under the intake manifold. I hear it in the morning running fine. I've checked lines to see if there is any leak but i don't seem to find anything off. Is there anyone out there with the same problem they had that can help me diagnose this car. |

You can also check for vacuum leaks. I had p0171,p0174 on my car and was a vacuum leak on the intake boot and ccv hose.

I would change the O2 sensors first- they are due to be changed at 120k miles. There are four total- two pre-cat and two post-cat. You can only change the pre-cat ones, since they are most likely at the end of their life. Then, I would clean the mass air flow sensor using the cleaner sold at any local hardware store- be very careful, since it is fragile. If this does not fix your problems, then it is wise to check for vacuum leaks.
