N54 - Why is there a "hole" ?

Searched with no results - Anyone knows why there is a hole (has screw threads) there filled with some oil ?

Its just right at the pressure switch .....

Not sure why there is oil in it but I believe that is a threaded hole for the tow hook to be inserted and used as an engine lift point.

looks like a little oil may have gotten in there when the car had an oil change or was topped off...

Your oil filter housing gasket might be leaking thus seeping into that screw hole. The purpose of that screw hole is unknown it would seem, maybe someone else can enlightened us with its purpose.

It's used to thread a ring into which is used to support the engine so you could say lower the subframe..it holds the engine up.
