Wiper Motor covered under CPO?
Hello, Team.
So I have had a 2008 E91 328xi since November 2012 and the rear wiper just slowed to a stop and stayed there. No amount of washer/wiper button pushing or direct human intervention was able to coax it back to life. As a Frenchman once told me, "She's Bustee!" Anyone know if this is "100%" for sure (or for sure Not..) covered under CPO? (I still have until Feb 2014 or 90,000km on that.) Thanks! |

Here I am talking to myself again.. Sometimes I'm the only one who will listen, though. Ha.
So I'm pushing the shopping cart doing groceries with the Wife (my job is always the driving) and surfed and found a copy of the CPO warranty book - go figure. I thought for sure it would be much harder to find this answer. Anyway, there it is on page 9 of Covered: "Rear Wiper Motor." Perfect. Now to convince the stealership that when "Rear Wiper Motor" appears on the "Covered" list, and the motor doesn't work.. that they're supposed to fix it for free. Hmmmm ![]() |

Glad you found the answer, though they won't fix it for free. CPO warranty has a $50 deductible.

Or, you could try fixing it yourself....
heres the diagram: ![]() The wiper arm shaft that is driven by the motor gets corroded, rusty and dried out. This will eventually burn out the motor.... If the wiper arm shaft is cleaned and lubed once in a while it should perform without issue...From what Ive read, none of these parts have worn out...just lost their lubrication and gotten rusty!...even with the corrosion and rust, once cleaned, they seem to be performing just fine. Look at part #10...thats the assy you should focus on.... JP |

Final result:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=794973&page=2 sucks, but didn't feel like fighting this one with them today. you are all correct - next time, DO IT MYSELF FIRST, then decide if it is covered to bring it in! ![]() |
