Hesitation after DPF removal E 90 330D 57 plate
Just had the DPF removed from the car ( for reasons explained in another post ) so I wont explain further.
I now have a slightly different issue. Maybe linked to the DPF removal but I'm unsure. At 1500 to 2000 rpm the car has "hiccuped" ( cant think of a better description ) under acceleration in fourth and sixth gear. Twice last night and once this morning. I'd like to stress that it is momentary ( about a second in duration ) and I just accelerated through it. But I never had this issue before the DPf was removed. I've tried to read up on this and this may point to a problem with the EGR valve ? BUT the EGR valve was taken off, cleaned and refitted during the DPF removal works. So can anyone point me in the right direction ???? The software guy was off when my car had the DPF removed so the DPF software is still present on the ECU. I'm going to get this removed on Friday by the guy who originally remapped my car and have it "tweaked" to reflect the freer flowing exhaust. Could the DPF software still being in the ECU be causing this issue does any one know ? Or has anyone got any other suggestions ? Thanks in advance |

Sounds like the egr but seeing as you didnt get the regen taken out it could be the software. I personally dont think it will try to regen if it isnt there but that is an educated guess. It wont see a delta P.
I have had mine hiccup after I had the inlet manifold apart and it was the egr. I cant remember how I fixed it as I have done so much to the car you tend to forget. Get them to map it out and give it a try then egr. |

Never had this problem since !
Since found out my temps are well down ( via hidden menus ) which means my thermostats are shot which in turn means my car wasnt even attempting to carry out Regens. Which is why my DPF was knackered. Lesson to all: Keep a check on your temps. If they are down then get the Main Stat and EGR stat changed. Better to do that than to have to remove / replace the ludicrously priced DPF. |

Think your right mate. Still no further hiccups so Im happy.
Checked the temps on the car on the way to work yesterday and it only got to 54 degrees. Changed the EGR stat last night and achieved 77 degrees on the same journey with the same volume of traffic this morning. So Im getting to where I should be, but not still quite up to 85 / 90 where I should be I believe ? So the main coolant stat is to be changed as soon as the part arrives. |

Main thermostat isn't that difficult to change, just be methodical and don't force anything, you'll be fine.
