Logic 7 options?
Why not skip the MS-8, use the stock L7 speakers, add a center tweeter, and buy a XD600/6 and calibrate the setting from there? I could always add a side firing sub in the trunk.
Has anyone done this? |

No amp will directly interface with L7 output
The head unit in the L7 has a fiber optic output to the L7 amp that uses
a proprietary code . L7 speakers setup has 13 (or 11 ) speakers and 9 channels. 1)You could reprogram the radio for Hi Fi output(something people do to interface with the MS-8) but you loose the graphic equalizer in the head unit and surround sound. I'm not sure that there is a prewired analog output from the Head Unit to the amp area? Does anybody know? 2)You could buy a mobridge preamp to feed the new amp or amps and retain the Logic 7 in the Head Unit.(as it is the only device that will translate the fib optic signals from the head unit) Then you still need away to figure out to do with all the speakers with only 6 channels to replace the 9 in the original L7. There is a block diagram of how the L7 is connected in the following links. Did you get the part about fiber optic interface
Did you get the part about fiber optic interface
You mean tap the output of the L7 amp and an use the the speaker level drivers outputs as preamp signals for aftermarket amps . Using an amp to drive another amp is not a clean way to do things . You could do that but you might need level converters to reduce the output of the the L7 output. Technic does not make a harness for doing that as far as I know. I don't know exactly whats in his ms-8 harness but it might be useful for that. Most here would not do that for anything but a sub setup. Also the ms-8 does some things the the stock L7 can't . It has auto eq and better surround sound and has the proper inputs for the Hi Fi output of the Head Unit. You can't calibrate the stock L7 setup to my knowledge which isn't much since I never had one. Last edited by ctuna; 02-04-2013 at 01:07 AM.. |
