License plate holes

There are a lot of threads about license plate holes, but nobody talks about how to get rid of the raised edges around the holes. It looks like this:

I have clear bra on the bumper, so I think sanding would be difficult without scuffing the clear bra. Any other ideas on how to get rid of the raised edges?

finese with a heat gun and something to smooth them down with like a putty knife broad side or something along those lines. Dont melt it, just warm it so that its soft then work the plastic in.

I found a thread where one guy used an exacto knife to carefully shave off the edges. I might try that.

man they really screwed that bumper. i only had two holes from the plate holder. looks like they just screwed the plate directly into the bumper.

Here is what worked for me:

First of all, I pushed the raised edges back in to the hole the best I could. Then I went through my old RC pit box and found my lexan body reamer. These can be had at any hobby shop for $15 to $20 (see pic below).

From there, I gently reamed the holes until all raised edges were gone. Came out great. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't even know what reamers were and had to look it up lol.

I'm glad I could help. I guess I should not assume that everyone was and RC Car geek like I was years back.

I think I used a combination of my finger and the tip of the reaming tool. If there were any stubborn areas that wouldn't fold in, I cut them off carefully with a razor blade.

I ended up using the sides of a small phillips screw driver to push the edges in as much as I could then trimmed the edges with an x-acto knife. Then I realized that the plastic retainers I bought were too big

Time to go back to the auto parts store for smaller ones.

Use a snap blade AKA OLFA. The blades are like 4" long and flexible allowing it contour around the bumper when cutting.

Well, the point is not to enlarge the existing holes :P
