if you have the hifi system then the stock amp may not know it needs to turn on. did you connect the remote turn on from the aftermarket headunit to pin 13 of the factory harness?

You may have depleted the battery during install.

You may have depleted the battery during the install.
Some have noted all sorts of funny problems when battery is
low.
While the car is in the awake state it draws .5 amps .
Its awake any time you open the doors or unlock it and stays
that way unless locked and or undisturbed for up to a half hour.

The car running ruff was because the battery, but i was scared about it. I have the L7 amp, i double checked pin 13 an all the rest. Does anyone know how the L7 receives it signal? Am i supose to tap RCA'S into the L7?. I did relocate the factory HU to the trunk. Am i totally lost on what could be the problem? I double checked everything an know its something stupid

There are no head units compatible with L7 amps

There are no head units compatible with L7 amps other than the OEM head units from BMW. The head unit is optically connected but its not toslink like a home system.

This is why you have to change to some type of aftermarket amp that can use analog signals . Then you also need to get a harness that runs those analog signals from your new head unit to the amp .
typicaly people use and ms-8 because it has 8 channels which almost is as many as OEM L7 at 9 channels.
Then they add amps and speakers according to taste.

All this is covered in the following thread
