I've just came back from the dealers where they said the 3 and 5 series are getting the 5.0 litre V8 diesel in 2009. His words were the prototypes were quicker than the M5. He couldn't quote power but said torque was 1000nm. Again also said the twin turbo six diesel will appear in the 1 series.

wow, what will the next M5 be like then??

it will kill the 2nd hand sales of m5's and m6's because these diesels will be pheonominal and there juice bills are high at the mo anyhow

Not fussed on the interior of the 1 series, (a bit plasticy) but it is a much better handling car that the 3'er due to its weight and size.

The wife's old remapped 120d was a storm on back roads. Very chuckable and tail happy when you wanted to.
