Steering wheel cleaning?

After admiring the work members do in this sub-section, I don't recall ever seeing how any of them clean a steering wheel. I know, go ahead and laugh.

Specifically, what product/techniques are used to remove the accumulated gunk from the grooves/texture of the steering wheel's leather covering? I live in a hot climate and I can see some small gunk of crud in some spots.

Mine isn't so bad, but I'd use leather cleaner and scrub it with a brush, then wipe with a terry towel. I don't use much leather conditioner, if at all, on the wheel. Just the cleaner. I like the Zaino cleaner and conditioner, but there are lots of good products.

Leatherique PC, or a very diluted concentration of all purpose cleaner. use a leather brush or a brush with soft bristles to scrub gently and you should be good to go.

NO APC!!!

Use a good dedicated leather cleaner like Zaino with a soft leather brush and patience. Then just condition with the same product you use on your leather.

If it's in bad shape to begin with... leatherique is a good option.

Does that apply to sport steering wheel too? I just a newer wheel from the dealer and I want to keep that softness. So I got some meguiars leather cleaner conditioner and it's pleasantly soft.

No cleaners on mine. I simply wipe it with a clean damp MF to remove the oils each time I wash the car. Zero wear or shine on the wheel so far.

I use Lexol leather cleaner and a small nail brush you find at Pep Boys. Spray and scrub until all the dirt is out and wipe with a towel.

I've found Zaino to work best. I have tried Leatherique and Lexol and the have not even come close to the result of Zaino.
I use a horse hair brush. I am never able to get all the oil off and have the leather a flat black. Annoys the $h1t out of me; it's so frustrating driving around and the sunlight hits the wheel and its matte in some sections and shiny in others.

yeah, limit the conditioners you use....imagine "slipping" on the wheel when trying to turn away from an accident...same reason no dressing goes on the foot pedals!

I need some help with this - I'd like to get all the dirt out of the pores on the perforated part of the msport wheel. Anyone done this with complete success?

Autoglym and Chemical guys, Swissvax leather cleaners are available. Swissvax costs 3x as much as the first two. Which one will do the best job?

I use the Chemical Guys Leather cleaner and conditioner. It's pretty good, works easily and the conditioner leaves a nice (but strong) leather smell in the car. I do not use it on the steering wheel. Maybe once tried it, but since then only use the cleaner and not the conditioner on it. If you buy Chemical guys, Amazon might be cheaper.

This is what i have done with my Leather steering wheels and seats.

1. Clean All Leather interior with good Leather cleaner. "Leather Master Soft Cleaner"
2. Apply Leather Master Leather Conditioner.
3. Give it a day, o next day, wipe it with damp MF towel.
4. Finally i have applied Leather coating "CarPro Cquartz Fabric & Leather Coating" http://www.autogeek.net/fabric-leather-coating.html
Treated leather surfaces will be protected against liquids, dirt, body oils and water, extending the life of the material
