First off I know the PSS are better tires, but my question is how much better? Is it worth the extra money? Which is better in snow and/or rain? Thanks!

I have the DWS on my E-class. The tires are off the hook in the winter with 4matic... However, I don't see them being UHP tires as categorized.

Dont bother running PSS in snow or cold weather. They are crap. I have PSS and DWS and Michelin A/S Plus. The PSS are a high performance summer tire so if the temps are under 10C, traction is not good. The DWS is damn good even in light snow. I also have Michelin X-ICE snows and though the DWS cant compare to a snow tire, its damn close. I didnt even bother switching this year with minor snow on the ground. (under 5inches)

How do they compare to the stock tires? My stock Continentals suck in most conditions and stick very poorly in dry as well as cold.

I was leaning toward the PSS but I do drive my 335D is both winter and summer (though if there is much snow I use my ML320)

PSS are summer performance tires and no good for Winter. DWS are damm good in Rain and Snow they are All season tires but will get noisy after 25k. Michelin A/S are close to DWS.
Another tire close to these two is perilli zero nero all season good in snow and less noisy

If you want two setup then go with Winter tires like blizzaks and PSS for summer

Those are two completely different tires. Michelin Pilot Super Sports perform flawlessly in the dry but I would never want to run them in snow.

Where do you live? Will this be your only set of wheels/tires or do you have a dedicated set for winter, etc?

I'm also wondering how the DWS compares with the stock run-flats, traction-wise. I've heard from several sources that it will be a better ride, but I'm very curious about the dry traction, given that one is rated at 140 tread life, and the other at 540....

I tried the dws a couple of years ago on my Infiniti and had to return them. It felt like I was riding on balloon tires. I replaced them with bridgestone 970AS and they were awesome.

In Tennessee it snows like 2 times a year...I live in KY and am not even bothering with all season tires any more...

I don't know what the winter is like in TN but if it stays in the 30s and/or snows much of the winter you can't really run the PSS. You'd need to swap to winters. OTOH if it doesn't get cold you'll be fine.

FWIW I run summer tires and swap to winters when the temps drop into the 30s. The pros of doing this is that I get the best grip in both seasons. The cons are having to handle 2 sets of tires/wheels, the fact that both summer performance tires and winter tires aren't as quiet as all season tires, and the awkwardness of the in-between seasons where one day its warm and the next its near freezing.

I don't really have a choice in the matter though since I live in Michigan and drive a RWD car.

Word. Just get a nice set of all-seasons and be done with it...I'd wait for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 to drop this summer before making a decision on which to choose though.
