If you like your 318i - then that's all that matters. If there's people out there that don't - then that's their choice/opinion.

PERSONALLY - my thought has always been: Anyone driving a 4 cylinder PETROL has bought the BMW for the quality but not the performance. Anyone with a 6 cylinder has bought the car for both. Anyone with an M3 - Know's what the fuck they're talking about.

END OF.

Before I start i know it's a D not an i,

I owned a 318D M Sport Plus E91 and loved it. I had the choice of 1.8 or 2lt and decided on the 1.8 because it was slightly better mpg and less money on the lease deal. I upped the spec to include nav and heated seats to within my budget.

I've done the new car thing and loved it but would never do it again as it's like throwing £20 notes out the window doing 95 down the M40.

The reason I bought the 330D se was I'm now doing 110 mile round trip to work (95% motorway) and wanted a solid engine with a little poke that would last me 4-5 years without blowing up. It's a little dearer on fuel than i expected but a lovey car to drive.

How do they compare?? The E91 was a great car, used it for my 4 yearly trips back up to Glasgow and loved the smooth ride, The boot took all my luggage and could keep up with 99% of the traffic.

E92 is a great car too, smooth ride keeps up with 99% of traffic on the motorway. Boot also takes the luggage

All in all, not a big difference in the 2 cars apart from the 0-60 time. both great fun to drive and own.

If I haven't had the E90 and I would love to have one but didnt have much money I would get the 2005 318i as its the cheapest model 318i or not, its still great looking E90 as any other !
