A few questions to for a n54 noob
Hello everyone,
First and foremost I would like to introduce myself. I just moved up from the n52 to the n54. I had a few very simple questions which I would like to hear different answers for. How long is the hpfp warranty, and other turbo related warranties, and which performance mods can I do which when reversed, could not be detected, so I can get warranty work done? Looking forward to some answers. I was thinking DCAI, bov, exhaust, but I was unsure if a tune would be detected (if not, which one) Thanks |

Hpfp 100k 10 years. Waste gates (when rattle) 88k 8 years, someone people say the fuel injectors got recalled but idk. Hit the search button more and also there is a new recall coming out this march about the battery connector. Any tune like jb4 or Cobb can be reversed. Exhaust is anther or dp's. I have both and they never gave me an issue at the dealership. Also fmic prob will not be noticed by dealer. Bov kit is easy to Install or take out when needed. But it will become a pain for you.

HPFP is actually covered till 120,000 miles if I'm not mistaken. Turbos are factory warranty so 4 year/50k miles unless your CPO or have an extended warranty.
For mods I'd suggest a tune and DCI as your first mods with a little E-85. If you buy a jb4 you'll have a code clearer built in so before you uninstall it for warranty work just clear all the shadow/fault codes and you'll be good to go. Your second mod should be DP's because you'll be able to run higher boost maps that way.

The turbos are covered under the emmisions warranty, 8 years/82K miles. If you're really concerned about warranty then tune + intake is the best route.

Why do you want a BOV? for the sound? if it's for performance, it gives nothing.

Hey man congrats! I Remember when I came to your spot to grab those stock rims and told you the 335i is such a blast...now you got one and can relay to others how I felt when I first had the car
Recommend tune at minimum as first engine/performance mod... As far as the BOV...It was one of the first mods I got in my car but ill be honest its all for show and NO go....Especially with a 6MT you lose any boost you built through every single shift...At this point I wish I had gotten a chargepipe build for upgraded diverter valves instead of a BOV..be smart unless all you got the 335i was for showing off...then by all means handle it!!!!

As for bov, really? The car gets slower after? I actually got a 6mt 135i n54 not really a 335i, but no one replies on the 1 series forum. I just like the whooooosh sound and have always wanted it. And I feel like if I tune the car without doing any supporting mods, I will put too much stress on the engine. Are there upgrades that just make it more reliable with a tune, such as a charge pipe upgrade and whatnot? I am such a noob lol. |

I have been looking everywhere and cannot find a concrete answer... Does the Cobb AP clear the tuner codes like the JB? I ask because because I had my car for less than a year and has been in the shop 3 times already. I want to keep my warranty is some other things break in the future.
