Helix HXS 234G vs CDT cl-42
Hey all I'm looking to upgrade the fronts on a budget and was wondering if anyone is running these or has some info on these. Tried a search but couldnt find that much. They both seem like they would fit in an 06 E90.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks |

FYI
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=343673
most people use whats in this list . With the first 4 or 5 in the list being the most common for sound quality and easy of installation. Some of the model numbers may have changed do to updates. |

Yeah thanks ctuna I saw the list I've been researching for a while now. Lots of good info on here.
Alot of those comps are out of my budget. I would love to put some ovations in there...but it is what it is. Now I'm trying to figure out if the sws 8xi is going to work for me. I Dont care too much about the bass but would like some defined midbass. From what I read its possible with some dsp and since I plan on using a dqx i'm hoping that would work. |

yeah I plan on getting the jl 600/6 xd to run the fronts and underseats. I just dont know what to get for underseats.
I agree on the earthquakes not being what I'm looking for. I guess what I really want is something like the jehnerts hard to find any prices or anywhere to listen to them. From what I read here they have that crisp punchy midbass I'm looking for. But I have a feeling they may be over my modest budget! |

Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking the kickers and bandpassing them...with the hopes to eventually add a sub. But those Rainbows intrigue me! I've never heard them have you?

I hear ya. I'm wondering whether they would fit in the underseat enclosure. I sent him a pm so we'll see. Cant find much info on them. I think I saw the mounting depth was 50mm.

Jehnerts are Laser accurate
Jehnerts are Laser accurate.
They are tight with no boominess yet smooth and warm with a lot of presence . They are as close to live with no speaker as I have heard. You can really here all the nuances and timber with them. Last edited by ctuna; 12-19-2012 at 03:31 PM.. |

They are not cheap
I got mine in the package deal so I don't know how much exactly
but my guess is between 4 and 5 hundred a pair. There are only two places that I know of in the US that sells them and that's Unexpected Creations in Jersey and MusicarNW in Portland , Oregon. The stock Hi Fi speakers will actually output some bass with and amp but its not like the Jehnerts. |

Yeah for that price tag I'm sure they do. I was thinking about either the kickers or the Rainbows referenced above. From what i've been researching the kickers may be a cheaper solution for midbass. Probably not as good as the Jehnerts though! I dont know much abut the Rainbows I have't heard to many people running them on here and I don't want to run into any installations problems.

I'm between the Helix HXS 234G and the CDT CL-42 now too.... the Helix seem to be a little less power hungry which is good for the amp i'll be using... but I'm trying to make everything look as stock as possible and was wondering if you had any pics of your CL-42's in the front doors and could comment with some detail on what you had to do to make them fit with a stock look?
