Does anyone know if this is the same bulb thats working at different brightness levels, or do the DRL's have additional bulbs. The manual doesn't really make it clear (to me anyway !)

Also, does each 'ring' have a bulb, meaning that the 4 rings require 4 bulbs (2 rings at each side of the car), or is one bulb shared between two rings - am I making sense?
In respect of your last question the E90 uses only two bulbs for the angels, one each side, which illuminates both corona rings. For the E92 I don't know. Try posting on Teddy's sub-form at EvoTechnik, he knows all this sort of stuff

I have had the cover off my E93 and the side light/ DRL are one bulb each side (12v 35 watt H8). The bulb acts as DRL, direct light from the bulb and the angels from fibre optic from the same bulb, the reason that the DRL angel eye is brighter is that it is nearer to the light source. I am awaiting my new xenon Super Whites to see what a difference they make. The manual states the DRL's work at lower level than normal beam that is due to the 35 watts of power.

Does the bulb just get 'dimmed' when you switch the sidelights on?

Will be interested to hear how the new bulbs look.

If you switch off the DRL's on the OBC and use the light switch as a normal side light switch you switch the same bulb on (35 watt) it just doesnt work on starting the engine as you would for DRL. When left in the auto position sides and low beam come on in depending light conditions (DRL's off). Hope this is clear.

This is too confusing!

Ok, if the DRL's are activated - having the light switch at 0 will basically make the DRL's come on when engine is running. If you still have the engine running but turn the light switch one position to the right (sidelights) the rings get dimmer. What I'm basically wondering is what makes them dimmer, if it is the same bulb?

The only thing the DRL does is that they come on once you start the engine in the auto or off positions at the same time supplying the angels by fibre optic from the same bulb. If you turn them off (DRL's) by the OBC they act as normal sidlights supplying the angels, The answer to your question is yes it is one bulb each side H8 and replacing this with a extreme white or blue will change the colour of the angels. I will change one side once I receive my bulbs and post a photo.
