Do you have iDrive?

If not, do you have BMW SOS? (button on roof near sunroof)

If you have neither then you are SOL.

I had to weed out quite a few 330/335 when I was looking for my used 2007 as I did not want iDrive but did want bluetooth phone connectivity. My understanding is that you have to have BMW SOS as an option if you don't have iDrive.

yes I agree with post above. Start by looking for those. If you have premium package it should include bluetooth.

By the way, great buy! how many miles? Post pictures when you get a chance.

Just because you have these buttons does not mean that you have Bluetooth integration. BMW keeps these buttons as "dead buttons" in their cars even if the car has no BT.

Hit the "Menu" button on your radio and look for "Phone" icon. If it shows no such icon, then your car has no BT.

As for the manual... BT operation is described in a separate BT-specific manual. You won't find it in the "main" owners manual.

Both Go and Romeo are incorrect. Depending on model options and levels, you may need to look underneath your trunk floor to see if you have one or two electronic boxes bracketed to the car's floor. It's either or both MULF and/or TCU units. MULF controls the Bluetooth conductivity and the TCU works the BMW's SOS Assist feature. There are several different MULF depending on features and other options. That's another story.

'06-'08 E9X models may or may not have come from the factory with either units present, active, and inactive or (at least) pre-wired for future installation any of these units. After '08, BMW stopped pre-wiring the cars. So it has become cost prohibitive if an owner wants the system due to the car is not pre-wired.

I suggest for you to check underneath your car's trunk floor to see if you have any of these units and report back to us. If you do, then you are friggin' golden. Taking the car into your local dealership for activation. If not, then it's entirely a different story.... Good Luck

Thanks for the precise clarification.

Ok, if you're going to correct me then do me a favor write and change the first sentence. "I was quite are incorrect but now I'm good". Doesn't make sense.

What does not make sense is correcting others while you are mostly incorrect yourself... no biggie.

If you at least have an aux jack, you can use one of these...
http://www.xtrememac.com/en-US/produ...harge-auto-bt/
(I use this one in my '08 328i...)
or
http://www.belkin.com/us/F4U037-Belkin/p/P-F4U037
or
http://www.scosche.com/motormouth-ii...-audio-car-kit

Can usually find the xtrememac one on sale someplace. I scored mine for $15.

By no means am I interested in a pissing contest. You did clarify content more accurately than I. I tried to relay what I know at the moment. As you already know, this subject is a complicated about the associated components and systems one needs to know instead of merely pressing buttons and wondering why it doesn't work.

Sounds like you have far more inside BMW source information than I do. Again, thanks for the clarification. I too learned something, but I feel that I wasn't a dick about it.

I don't mind someone else clarifying information for me, but you could be more thoughtful in your responses.

so not meaning to hijack, but Thumperx. I have a 07 335 coupe. and your saying it is possible with it being an earlier model that i could have the models installed just not activated. I a hundred percent positive about the prewire being done.. but what models would i need just to get bluetooth installed versus doing the aux route? and it seem a little odd the bmw would go through all the trouble and expense to prewire the care and add the one of or both units then just leave it up for activation.. seems like they would loos money .. also i dont have sos feature on the roof

Yeah agree with you that BMW may have thought non-Premium '06-'09.5 customers would pay extra for the Bluetooth option. At that time, it made perfect sense to have the US bound cars pre-wired. After '09, to save on overall cost or the demand wasn't there; BMW stopped the pre-wiring of all cars. Someone else may clarify. Plus most dealerships did not want the hassle of installing and coding the cars which in itself turned into black art.

I strongly suggest search this forum under terms like: ”Bluetooth, USB, retrofit”, and get yourself up to speed. Then start asking questions.
Some guys have reported that they did not know that their newly (used or new) purchased car's came with Bluetooth via Premium package or option loaded. In this case, they were lucky. Remember this is NOT an absolute for all cars will come with MULF, COMBOX, and/or TCU units.

Like your car, my car is also a '07 and currently in progress of retrofitting my car with necessary hardware for USB and Bluetooth options. Then there’s the nutty coding. Again that’s another saga.

Bluetooth

I understand the frustration that comes out of this. This is why people buy Acuras. Only one or two options packages that's it.

Buying a used BMW is quite complicated. You are forced to become an expert on features and build dates.

Even buying a new BMW doesn't mean you get what you expect (iDrive hardware versions, paddle shifters on X1 Msports, etc...)

But... a savvy shopper who understands the price of the original options and can get a pretty good deal COMPARED to a stripped down version of the same model. I was prepared to research, search and travel to find the model and options I wanted. It was an all-consuming hobby.

Enjoy your new car regardless of the fancy features it may or may not have!

(I'm still researching whether Sirius is prewired in my car)
