why dont you just do it yourself? its probably the easiest thing to do. i would NEVER have a dealer install this.

No way they would charge 350 for a strut bar install, unless that price includes the bar. You sure that you're talking about a strut brace and not a sway bar install?

will this strut bar help a dash creak?
According to the below tsb, the creak in my dash may be caused by a loosening of the bolts where the OEM bars mount to the firewall.
http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/B511304g.htm I read where another poster's dealership warranted his creak by installing the cross strut bar addressed in this thread at no charge, and it seems to have worked. Do you guys think this might help me? My dealer has done everything save installing this new strut and removing my dash. Thanks. |

M8: 35nm, M10: 52nm
Hi,
I'm a car noob who has never worked on a car in his life. This is actually my first kinda nice car (bought a used 2006 325i w/ Premium, Sport, Winter Package and 31K miles from dealer) that I'm going to drive on weekends (Honda Fit for commuter car). I ordered the strut bar from a BMW dealer on sale. The price to have them install it was stupid. This install looks easy enough but I have a few questions. First question is will it be safe to install on a house drive way or do I need to park the car on a flat service like inside a garage (I'd have to clean out my garage). Second question is what exactly does 35NM and 52NM mean? I ordered the Mountain 16250 1/2-inch Drive Torque Wrench - 25-250 ft/lbs wrench from Amazon along with the TEKTON 4815 1/2" Drive Shallow Impact Socket Set, 11-24mm. Do I need to dial some kind of setting on the wrench? I should receive the tool by end of week so I don't have it yet to look at or know how to dial in any setting on it. Thanks |
