The wheels will literally hop in the air, thus losing traction to zero, then suddenly regaining 100% traction causing a shock to the driveline and destroying things.
You will know when you feel it.

It's a heart attack to your drivetrain. Wheel hop is the common culprit for blown differentials and axle on any car. It's even worse on FWD cars. I broke all kind of things from wheel hop.
