FMR Coding, some odd results

I attempted to have a FRM2 retrofit in my pre 3/7 e90. When the module was installed and coded everything but the right low beam worked correctly. After a bit longer the left low beam went out and we noticed smoke coming out of the rear of the lights. We quickly swapped out the FRM2 for my original module and everything went worked (both low beams) and the smoking stopped.

Any ideas what might have gone wrong?

Could be a bad module. Have you performed the following?

Programmed the vin with winkfpt
Programmed it after winkfpt with tool32
Wrote FA from CAS to Nfrm?
Recode module in expert mode?
Remember when codin you have to simulate the production date to 03/07 only when coding the frm though
