been in a Formula ICA Kart today...

spent the day testing with my bro-in-law in his forumla ica kart... got the oportunity to do a few laps myself

MY GOD! - suddenly my 3 litre twin turbo car doesn't seem all that fast at all - this thing has a 0-60 of just over 3 seconds, a top speed of about 95mph and revs to about 24k revs! and jeezus do you know about it!!!

best fun i've had for ages, everone was suprised that i wasn't scared of putting my foot to the floor coming out of the corners, a lot of noobies take a good while to warm up to full throttle

all i can say, wow... got an open invitation to go testing so gonna be spending some time there me things

Karts are good fun, my little boy runs a 620cc V twin engined one, but it is looking at rotary power for the next one.

Hehehehehehee - Had you driven an outdoor kart before?, or was that four first outdoor drive?. I'm not familiar with Formula ICA (I stopped karting several years ago when I found a better way of trying to kill myself!) What makes ICA different from a standard 100cc kart?

The first time that I drove a '100, I'd just consumed a can of cola. My turn came for the kart a little sooner than expected, I threw the kart into the bumpy first corner at Rye House an the cola fizzed up inside me, making me feel really quite inflated. The silliest 100cc race I drove was at Clay pigeon circuit, where the race was called off when the fog became so thick that the marshals could no longer see their corners

I mainly drove indoor and Outdoor pro-karting with a little 100cc thrown in for good measure. I even had a photo in the glossy centre pages of Autosport one year(one page before the middle). Some young upstart called Schumacher got the front cover of that issue. I was gutted

I bet 24K revs sounds nice :rocks:

0-60 in 3 secs is a whole lot of fun.

Arrow

formula ICA is outdoor... i have done indoor karting before but only the fun, out with your mates kind of karting this is the first time i have been in a professional kart so to speak...

what makes ICA different? i dont know, i think it is just counted (along with formula A) as being the most prestidious non-gearbox series... but i'm not sure...

i know its probably the most expensive (again, before getting into ones with gears...)

not big on the ins and outs, just know i loved it

i used to go to a lot of the super1 meetings and champs of the future... did you ever compete in them? i've probably seen you a few times without realising it...

an ICA kart is a seriously badass toy... might buy myself one and make it road legal - that'd thrash one of them damn evos...

No need to convert the kart - a caterham r500 will do the job

I've driven a caterham superlight and it was a monster. I've not had a go on an atom.

Having experienced the caterham the Atom would need to be extraordinary.

The mag reviews I have seen say it is pretty special, but difficult to love.
