To match my howl, all you do is floor the mother... wait until dial reaches 7,000 RPM (above 4,000 RPM you will hear music in your ears...), change gear... then repeat as necessary until you reach desired cruising speed.

Bear in mind that at 95mph you must change into 4th and into 5th at about 125mph...

Paul- the diesel rev range means that they never will hear music in their ears, unless the audio system volume is increased, of course!

I'd certainly hear something strange at 7000 rpm

Yes, beautiful car coley.

I think the oil pack is basically a bottle of oil (sometimes they provide disposable gloves and a funnel?) Don't think its standard though some dealers probably throw it in free of charge.

Are dealers removing them at the PDI stage... or are cars not coming from the factory with torches... or was Mr Silver just unlucky?

How much do BMW charge for replacement? Could probably pick up a tidy unused one off ebay:

Carlos, Shadowline trim is standard on the M Sport.

Coley, great looking car, but I would say that. Silver is a great colour.

Could this be why some cars are missing them?

I would reject the car. I feel the torch sets the 3 series apart from every other car in its class...
