Question on ride quality with 19's

I have been seriously considering buying a set of 19-inch M6 replicas with a good set of non-RFT tires.

I currently have stock 225/50 16-inch RFT Bridgestones that came with my Sport Package.

My question is will my ride-quality get better or worse moving to 225/35 19-inch non-RFT tires??? Seems difficult to imagine that my ride quality would get worse seeing as I am coming from the way-too-stiff Bridgestone RFTs that came with my Sport Package.

Worse, but not by much. Same as 17inch on rft's me thinks.
Go for it though, your the first one on this forum i know with 16's -way too small. I have 18's with SS and rft's and find the ride pretty good, so 19's with non-rft's definately OK.

I went from OEM 17" RFT to 19" non-runflats. Ride quality improved just slightly.

Going from the Sport Package wheels to 19" were not that bad.

However, going from 225/50/16 to 30 series in the rear will be a considerable difference.

yeah... I am trying to decide if 18-inch or 19-inch would be a better choice for me with a wheel upgrade.

The thing is this: I hate how the RFT Bridgestones from my sport package ride so hard, tremline alot, and you feel every bit of uneven pavement throught the steering wheel.

I want to improve at least two out of three things with an upgrade... I would probably be fine with a ride quality similar to stock 16-inch RFTs if I got rid of the tramlining and sensitivity to uneven pavement.

SO would 19-inch but non-RFT achieve this?

Actual "smooth" rolling down the road will suffer a fair bit, no way around that. Also fuel mileage will likely drop, and road noise will go through the roof compared to your OEM setup. FWIW...

Going from 18" RFTs to 19" non RFTs I noticed a nice improvement in smoothness going down the road, and in over all comfort and ride quality. But Going from a nice comparatively conservative 16" setup to 19" setup is going to be pretty "shocking" I'd say.

How about going to some 18" wheels? They look just fine, weigh less and are more abundant. Not to mention your selection of tires improves and they still look hot. Besides, there are always OEM 18s for sale here on the board for a song. Just a thought.

I love my setup but next time I'll be getting 18s and a happier more compliant sidewall.

18" would be clearly better than 19" on those respects. Less tramlining more comfort. M6 replicas are available in 18"....cheaper tires...

How do you guys feel about the looks of the 18-inch M6 reps? I like them but for some reason they don't seem as stunning to me as the 19s... oh well, given what I am looking for, I am probably better off with 18s. Especially consdiering that I only want to get 225 width at all four corners.

That my feeling too. But of course there's some difference between 16" and 17"

Sounds like it would work well and look great. The 18-19" wheel thing is a matter of preference and for the most part the 19"s are a step down performance wise from the 18". Too much wheel, not enough sidewall isn't ideal.

So 18" M6 reps would not only save you a stack of cash but would look just fine.

Thanks for all your help! When it is time, I believe I will be going with 18-inch M6 reps

Hopefully going with this set up and non-RFT tires will tame the tremlining and feeling every little truck groove, crack, etc.

Roads in AB are just too shitty IMO for 19" rims. Good call with the 18s. Those promoting 19" rims don't know what frost heaves are.

Yeah... after reading peoples opinions I backed off of the 19-inch thing even though it looks the biz.

I just hope that when I do do this move that I get away from the issues that I have with my current RFTs!
