Best Audio Setup for Better Bass Response
I have a 06 325i. I am not certain what stock system I have. I don't have speakers in the back doors, but i do have an amplifier in the trunk. I have 2 kicker L7 12's and a Hifonics amp (It's temporary). I have the signal coming from a line-output convertor.
The bass response is good but not nearly the amount of bass it should be. I was looking into getting a new head-unit or a sound processor such as the AudioControl LC2i. I listen to most of my music thought iPod/aux input. What would y'all do to get better sound quality and response out of the sub-woofers? Or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -Thanks, Tres |

Identify your system by reading the above thread and look at the examples in it. If you are concentrating on Bass alone you will end up with a very unbalanced system . To many think Bass is the answer to all problems these days. The aux Input has been noted to be low quality. If you are not using high bit rate mp3 or some loss less format it will be worse. plus a weak system makes it worse. There are aftemarket products from mobridge and Dension that will get you USB , true digital ipod and A2DP. Some have retrofitted there standard head units to newer OEM head units that have USB , HD radio and bluetooth built in (but not A2DP. Last edited by ctuna; 03-03-2013 at 11:40 PM.. |

Okay I have the HiFi System.
I plan on upgrading the mids and highs later on. I am a bass head, about 90% of the time I keep them at a low level. But sometimes I love it really really loud. I tend to use mp3's with bit rates between 192-320 I believe. I would prefer keeping the Aux input or at a minimum having that as my back-up. |

First, where did you tap the signal for the aftermarket amp? If you tapped the rear speakers then that's your problem.
If not then you are just experiencing the effects of a well-sealed trunk. The only way you can get more bass out of your current setup is to fold down the seats or to open the ski pass. Otherwise you may also look into infinite baffle.

the signal which I'm putting to the line out convertor is coming from the rear speakers i believe. Is there a better way?
I cut out a ski hole. I further sealed the trunk with sound deadening and "good stuff". The subs aren't playing at their potential. My buddy has nearly the same setup as me but are way louder because he has an aftermarket head unit. |

earthquake sells 8 in replacements for the 6 in woofers under the seat as well.. very nice sound and a decent thump. And you don't have to worried about trying to put huge base in a trunk that is well sealed. I'd check those out.

Make sure that the LOC that you are using is wired to the underseat woofers OEM amp outputs. Otherwise you will have a lack of bass.
