Bought A Da Polisher. What Are The Pads And Compounds do you use for your BMW?
Hi.
As i mentioned above i have gone and bought a Kestrol DAS 6 polisher. As this is my first DA polisher, what are the pads and compounds do you use for your BMW? I have checked already my detail world, but as i have heard bmw paint is sometimes difficult to correct. That is why i am asking on here. i have also searched ebay and found these what do you think. pads : 1. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 2. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 compounds: 1. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4cf1f89e57 2. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 or all together: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4d02ae8e9f What do you think? thanks sive |

Links don't work for me.
Lake County are one of the best pads you can get. Go for the constant pressure pads. If you want to start light, like i did, buy 2 White LK pads (very light cut, so use with a polish such as Menzerna PO203S), 2 Blue LK pads (least abrasive ones they do so for finishing with a polish such as Menzerna PO85RD and applying sealant) and 1 Orange Pad (medium to light cut i think). Use the orange pad with the PO203S for any areas that aren't perfect after you have tried them with the white/blue. The above should enable you to do a good light 2 stage polish. If any areas are still not to your satisfaction you can go a step more abrasive next time. A good website for products is www.cleanyourcar.co.uk. I always use them. |

As previously i'd suggest this for the 2 stages: First - 2 x White LK Pads plus Menzerna Power Finish PO203S for £26.85 Second - 2 x Blue LK Pads plus Menzerna Final Finish PO85RD for £25.85 One Orange pad for any deeper imperfections (£8.95) Total £60ish. This way you spend less, there's no need to purchase another backing plate plus the products i have suggested were suggested to me by a vendor on here called DetailedImage, and he really knows his stuff being in the business for so long! But take note that this is a light combination which can remove light swirls and scratches/scuffs. Anything deeper and you may want to use a more abrasive combination (or try the Orange pad). But as its your first time (i'm assuming), this would be a good way to practice and minimise the amount of cutting you do. Oh and some excellent literature on detailing here: http://www.detailedimage.com/guide/A...ilingGuide.pdf I'm assuming you're all sorted for your claying and sealing/waxing? |
