my car has finally been shceduled for production!!!

i'm so excited, the anticipation is killing me. how long will it take for delivery now that it has been scheduled for production? it has a vin number now too not just the production number, does that make a difference? does that tell me that it has been built and is about to move to the next step? thanks in advance for any input.

I'm going to guess 6 weeks? You can call the 800 number and they'll tell you exactly what the status is, paint shop, body shop, etc.

I ordered my car on 8/18. I took a week 39 production spot. I called the BMW # today and was told my car is in production and will be completed on 9/8. That means they must have moved me up to a week 35 production.

Hey ...

Congratulations!! I know exactly how you feel. When you get the VIN and the production number, it takes about 8 weeks, at least for the USA, MN. I waited literally about 8 weeks and 2 days. But, it is true you can check online at the bmw site, but sometimes they are behind, so your car could be further than it is posted there.

I had my VIN and production number and it seemed to take forever to get the car done .. but the time came and went, and I now have the GORGEOUS car .. ))

I am happy for you and excited .. Your going to love your car.

8 weeks? Ugh. Mine is in the paint shop according to BMWNA with an estimated completion of 9/4. I'm hoping delivery to the Houston area doesn't take 8 weeks! I guess I'll just have to wait it out regardless...

Anyone from Houston with delivery already? How long did it take once the vehicle went into production?

Does specific model and plant location make a big difference in delivery time? I'm guessing the biggest variables are waiting for a boat, the boat ride, and the transportation thereafter...

Just hang in there and congratz. The hardest part when delevery of your car is not only after production, but shipping takes 2 to three weeks, depends on which port they deliver too, then the VPC takes two-three days.
then the vehicle to your dealership.

New 335i Coupe

Just called the BMW number and got a completion date of 9/6. Taking delivery in Houston. Alpine White 335i Coupe with Coral Red interior (yeah, I'm leasing), gray poplar, ZPP, ZSP, Comfort Access, Steptronic AT, Sirius, iPod, iNav...

Hopefully I can bear the wait 'till it actually gets here...

Typically 6-7 weeks, but west coast delivery might be on the longer side of that because of the extra distance on the ship.

I've seen posts where it was much slower due to weird delays here and there, but I've also seen posts where it was very fast because all of the planets were in alignment... Here's to hoping the planets are aligned in the coming weeks!

Sept 8th Completion

Got on my stealers early 08 allocation list in early July, so I am definitely ready to get this car. Hope the weather cooperates in mid October so I can get some use of top down driving before the weather turns nasty.

Told my wife that I was going to drive around with my top down as much as possible, she said better you than me, I'd get arrested.

See you at the dealership! What'd you order?

P.S. Are they trying to charge you MSRP for the car? My sales rep insists that everyone pays MSRP for ordered cars. I find that hard to believe, but I dunno.

I'll see you both at the dealership! Which dealer did you go to in Houston? My car is built and is currently waiting for a boat, but I have not yet negotiated the final price with the dealer (it was ordered before the MY2008 prices were released).
