Engine "twitching" when idle
I have a 335i e92 2008 model with 82000km.
When i start my car and sitting idle the engine seems to "twitch". The rpm's start at 1k then slowly goes down to 600rpm. The rpm's do not bounce up and down or anything. Is this twitching normal? I looked in my log books and saw that the spark plugs were changed at 72000km. Any thoughts? thanks |

I think I had that issue before.. it comes and goes but I have not experienced it again after swapping spark plugs.

yup i have it also at times when im idle at the lights or when im doing 60 km/h in 4th gear (comes and goes) and it could be a myriad of issues from what i have researched:
spark plugs coils injectors carbon buildup I have asked Peter @ Advan about doing a carbon buildup clean, and he said once these cars hit 80k kays its only worthwhile (which could be the culprit in your case) A lot of guys who have the carbon buildup clean report of much smoother idle. Best bet would be to drop by and see the guys @ Advan performance in Auburn. |

The thing is our engines have a direct injenction setup and in a conventional EFI setup the combustion cycle is somewhat 'self cleaning', but with DI the setup is completely different so you cant use a cleaner like the popular subaru upper cylinder cleaner which you add to the fuel. Have a look at this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...rect+injection |
