Congrats, but have you driven a car with the Assisted Steering yet?

I've driven an active steering car and I did not like it. I thought it felt less connected and was a negative when I was driving hard and braking hard (steering ratio constantly changing and i could feel it).

It's a plus for parking the car and driving high speeds on the freeway (feels a little more solid at high speed, but it is also less responsive)

thats my .02 on that, but hey, maybe u get used to it If you are into tracking ur car or anything like that i would delete that option, which, if I may be the first to inform, you can do until ur car is put into production.

Congrats AW looks sick

Really? I just really don't like the adjusting it does when I'm braking hard and trailing into a turn. Like I said though, maybe u get used to it.

Ummm yeah, whether or not he's driven with active steering does matter. I personally didn't like driving with it. Just want to make sure he's not buying something without trying it first.

I have found that it doesnt adjust until you are driving a straight line. I have driven the first ones as well and it was scary to have it change ratios in the middle of a turn. They must have updated it somewhere.

Yes I have, my mom has a 530i w/ that option, and I like it alot, but that's just me.

I especially like it when driving at higher speeds which tightens up the steering but need only very little steer to go around curves or switch lanes, needless to say, very little effort also.

Track-wise, what can you say about it? I've ordered mine with it considering BMW cars are meant to be driven aggressively, but not having driven one with the system. My car will definetly hit the track at some stage but would like to hear from your experience. Thanks!

I have really enjoyed it. Not having to really move my positions on the wheel is very nice. I know there are a lot of haters but I LOVE it.

Then I'll take your word for it. I went for it when I saw the ad in Nick Heidfeld's F1-07 at one of the races and visited the site active-steering.com but you said exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks!
